Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory requirements.
- Perform detailed account reconciliations including general ledger, bank statements, and subsidiary ledgers such as accounts receivable and payable.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes using accounting software like QuickBooks, Xero, or PeopleSoft to ensure timely processing and accuracy.
- Conduct month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Support internal controls compliance by assisting with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) procedures and documentation.
- Assist in financial report writing, interpretation of financial data, and preparation of management reports for decision-making.
- Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities to support strategic planning initiatives.
- Collaborate with auditors during audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations related to financial transactions.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of securities law, governmental accounting standards, and non-profit accounting practices as applicable.
- Mentor junior team members by sharing technical expertise in areas such as double entry bookkeeping, technical accounting concepts, and regulatory reporting.
Experience
- CPA strongly-preferred
- Proven experience in corporate accounting or public accounting roles with a strong understanding of GAAP and financial concepts.
- Demonstrated proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or PeopleSoft; experience with Microsoft Excel is essential.
- Familiarity with SOX compliance requirements and internal control procedures is highly desirable.
- Background in governmental or non-profit accounting is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data accurately.
- Experience in financial report writing, cash flow analysis, bank reconciliation, and account reconciliation processes.
- Knowledge of tax regulations and experience with regulatory reporting requirements is advantageous.
