Position Summary:
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) plays a key role in supporting the clinical team at our nonprofit long-term care nursing facility in Wichita, KS. This position involves providing direct medical care and assisting with administrative tasks to ensure residents receive the highest quality of care. The CMA works closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff to deliver compassionate and effective care to our residents, contributing to a positive and supportive environment for both staff and residents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist healthcare providers with routine medical examinations and procedures for residents
- Measure and record vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiration) and document accurately in medical records
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments, in accordance with established protocols and under the guidance of medical staff
- Collect laboratory specimens, prepare them for testing, and ensure proper handling and documentation
- Prepare residents for exams, procedures, and tests, ensuring comfort and safety
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date electronic health records (EHR) for all residents
- Contribute to the development and implementation of individualized care plans for residents
- Ensure the cleanliness and readiness of medical equipment and supplies
- Uphold infection control standards and other regulatory requirements
- Perform Activities of Daily Living in accordance with duties outlined in Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) position description
- Support daily operations of the clinical team and assist with other duties as needed
Required Qualifications:
- Current CMA certification in the state of Kansas.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Current CPR certification
- Experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in long-term care or geriatric care
- Proficiency in performing clinical tasks such as taking vital signs
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, clinical procedures, and patient care.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- A compassionate, patient-centered approach to providing care
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Attention to detail and adherence to care protocols
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation using electronic health systems
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality
- Prior experience working in a nonprofit or long-term care facility
Work Environment:
