This position is responsible for conducting administrative and technical work, responsible for examining and evaluating engineering plans and technical documents for residential and commercial infrastructure projects to ensure compliance with applicable municipal, state, and federal codes, standards, and regulations. The role involves review, coordination, and processing of development applications, right of way and building permits for roadway design, traffic operations, and stormwater management systems, with appropriate environmental considerations for water quality, wetlands, and flood prone areas, primarily to ensure compliance and consistency with the with applicable codes and regulations. This role also involves collaboration with engineers, architects, developers, and regulatory agencies to facilitate accurate and compliant designs for public and private infrastructure projects.

Type of Appointment/Work hours:
Requirements:- Reviews plans, specifications, and calculations to determine compliance with all applicable ordinances, codes, and regulations, and sound construction practices. Prepares detailed plan review letters/correspondence to identify deficiencies or approvals.
- Identify potential issues and non-compliance, document findings, and communicate necessary corrective actions to ensure design accuracy to developers, engineers, architects, contractors, and project managers.
- Provide technical assistance to residents, developers, architects, engineers, and contractors regarding development requirements.
- Stay informed and updated on changes in regulations, standards, and industry practices (AASHTO, MUTCD, ADA, Florida Greenbook, FDOT Standard Plans for Road and Bridge Construction, etc.) and Local stormwater guidelines.
- Conduct field inspections as necessary, to verify site conditions or compliance that construction adheres to approved plans, particularly for critical drainage structures and transportation facilities.
- Participate in public meetings, workshops, and charrettes; prepare visual presentations and assist in community outreach.
- Collaborate with internal departments and external agencies to coordinate review of development applications and planning initiatives.
- Perform related duties as assigned.

Type of Appointment/Work hours:
- Full-time/Regular in-person position.
- Standard workweek, which is forty (40) hours of work per week usually consisting of five (5) days of eight (8) hours per day. The workday may be varied for the efficient delivery of public service.
- Will be required to work other than the standard workweek on occasion, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
- Will be required to work occasional overtime or shift assignments, if applicable.
- Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration, engineering, facilities maintenance/management, construction management, or a related field is required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in review of construction documents/design plans and evaluation of development of residential, commercial infrastructure projects, roadways, bridges, or on public works projects.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software applications.
- Knowledge of Federal, State, and local rules and regulations and code requirements related to the department.
- Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear reports and deliver presentations.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues. Must possess a valid state of Florida driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Must obtain an Advanced MOT within 12 months of appointment.
