Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and customer-focused Barista & Sales Associate to join our team in cozy coffee/yarn shop, The Homespun Pear. The ideal candidate will have an interest in yarn/knitting and experience as a barista. Employees play a key role in creating a welcoming atmosphere for our customers while assisting them with their purchases, providing excellent coffee, and ensuring a smooth transaction process. Hours
- Seeking weekend employee: must be available to work on Saturday and/or Sunday
- 8-16 hours per week
- 1 or 2 shifts available per week, with possibility of more both in coffee shop and fruit barn next door
- 8:30am-4:30pm shifts
Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and create a friendly and welcoming atmosphere
- Operate the cash register and point-of-sale system efficiently, ensuring accurate transactions.
- Maintain knowledge of menu items and merchandise to be able to assist customers
- Handle cash and credit transactions with precision
- Ensure the shop is clean, organized, and well-stocked at all times
- Make espresso drinks, tea, and serve light snacks
- Communicate well and work effectively on a small team to support one another and business initiatives
Experience and Skills
- Previous experience as a barista is preferred
- Interest in yarn, knitting, or fiber arts is preferred
- Familiarity with POS systems and cash register operations
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage customers positively.
- Self-motivated, quick and competent learner, comfortable working alone, and confident in taking initiative and making decisions
