Compensation: $75,000 base salary DOE plus incentive pay

Position Summary
The Supervising Mortgage Loan Originator is a mission-driven, dual-role position responsible for both individual loan production and the supervision of a team of Mortgage Loan Originators. This individual will generate mortgage loan applications forborrowers underserved by mainstream lenders while providing leadership, coaching, and guidance to other MLOs to help them meet production goals and further our mission of promoting community development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Producing (Origination) Duties:
- Actively originate and evaluate residential mortgage loans, focusing on first-time homebuyers and clients in designated low to moderate income (LMI) and Majority-Minority Census Tracts.
- Provide comprehensive guidance to borrowers, from initial application through closing, ensuring a clear understanding of loan products and processes.
- Develop and cultivate relationships with realtors, community housing agencies, developers, and other referral networks to generate new lending opportunities.
- Analyze applicants' financial data, including credit reports, income, and assets, to assess creditworthiness and determine eligibility for various loan products.
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of complete loan applications to the underwriting department.
- Maintain a robust knowledge of all mortgage products, regulations (including SAFE Act requirements), and industry trends.
Supervisory (Management) Duties:
- Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of MLOs, providing day-to-day support, training, and performance feedback.
- Conduct regular pipeline reviews with team members to ensure loans are progressing efficiently and deadlines are met.
- Recruit, onboard, and train new MLOs to support the growth and capacity of the mortgage lending team.
- Ensure the team's compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local lending regulations and HomeSight’s internal policies and procedures.
- Plan and lead team meetings to disseminate information, share best practices, and foster a collaborative team environment.
HomeSight’s Mission-Related Duties:
- Proactively engage with community agencies and local events to expand outreach and meaningful connections with homebuyers in target markets.
- Ensure the team's lending activities align with HomeSight 's primary mission of promoting community development and serving underserved populations.
- Work with flexible underwriting guidelines as needed, using sound judgment to mitigate risk and achieve mission-driven lending goals.
- Act as a representative of HomeSight in the community, participating in activities such as financial literacy and home-buying education programs.
Required:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Mortgage Loan Originator, with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding production goals.
- At least 2 years of experience in a lead/senior, supervisory or management role within a lending environment.
- Active and valid Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) license through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) and active license with WA State.
- Expert knowledge of residential mortgage loan products, lending regulations, and the entire mortgage process.
- Proficiency in loan origination software (e.g., Encompass) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to problem-solve and effectively prioritize workload.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and lending software.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in a business-related field or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience with mission-driven lending or working in a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI).
- Experience with FHA, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac mortgage products and underwriting guidelines, WSHFC (Washington State Housing Finance Commission) product lines.
- Experience with Encompass and running Automated Underwriting System (AUS).
- Working knowledge of Salesforce.
