Busser
The Busser at any Smith restaurant is responsible for providing a clean and pleasant dining experience by clearing, sanitizing, and resetting tables. They ensure that the restaurant is well stocked with necessary items such as silverware, plates, napkins, and glasses.
The Busser will work closely with other teammates in the front and back of house, by communicating powerfully to ensure a smooth operation and enjoyable experience for guests. The Busser must be highly organized, and detail-oriented. They will work with teammates to provide impeccable service to guests. Commitment, enthusiasm, integrity, humility, sense of team, and grace under pressure are required.
Accountabilities include
- Preparing dining areas before guests are guests are seated
- Remove dirty utensils and replenish as needed
- Clean and reset tables after guests leave
- Assisting teammates with table setting by fetching and placing appropriate tableware, eating utensils, and napkins
- Informing teammates about guest feedback or requests
- Maintain health and safety regulations at all kitchen and dining areas
- Clocking in and out for every shift at kiosk terminal

Food Runner
A food runner at any Smith Restaurant ensures guests have a high-quality dining experience by serving their food in a timely and accurate manner. The food runner is accountable for serving food orders, removing used dishes and utensils and providing excellent customer service to guests in a fast-paced environment.
The food runner will work closely with other teammates in both the front and back of house, by communicating powerfully to ensure a smooth operation and enjoyable experience for guests. Commitment, enthusiasm, integrity, humility, sense of team, and grace under pressure are required.
Accountabilities include
- Delivering food orders from the kitchen to bar and tables rapidly and accurately.
- Acting as a contact point between the front and back of house staff
- Communicating food orders to chefs, paying attention to priorities and special requests (e.g. food allergies)
- Upholding integrity of dishes by double checking quality before serving to guests
- Assisting teammates with table setting by fetching and placing appropriate tableware, eating utensils, and napkins
- Ensuring food is served in accordance with safety standards
- Removing dirty dishes and utensils
- Answering guests’ questions about ingredients and menu items
- Informing teammates about customer feedback or requests

They are able to anticipate the supply needs based on service activity and make sure the bar’s service area is clear so guests can enjoy their time and their teammates can provide fact and efficient service.
The Barback must be organized, take initiative, and be focused on hospitality. They practice prioritization, have familiarity with knife safety, and work well in loud, high-traffic, fast-paced environments. They must have a strong knowledge of bars, serving, and mixology. - Tidying up counters, and other bar areas
- Collecting empty glasses and bottles

- Cleaning rags throughout the shift
