Position Summary
The Leasing Specialist is primarily responsible for managing the leasing process from application through move-in and supporting portfolio occupancy goals. This position processes applications, coordinates applicant communication, prepares leasing documentation, shows available homes, and assists with ensuring units are prepared for scheduled move-ins.
The Leasing Specialist also serves as a professional and welcoming first point of contact for guests and general incoming telephone calls to Homes of Hope.
While leasing is the primary responsibility of this position, the Leasing Specialist is expected to support annual recertification activities when portfolio volume, deadlines, staff coverage, or departmental workload require additional assistance.

The Leasing Specialist reports directly to the Property Manager.
Working Conditions
Estimated 36–40 hours per week; approx. 90% office environment and 10% offsite for work related appointments (rental portfolio is throughout the state). Primarily office based, allowing for limited remote work as duties permit. Remote work requires supervisor approval and a measurable work product.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
The job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. Ability to travel to work related appointments is required, and a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation is needed.
Occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk. The employee is frequently required to use hands; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk or hear. - Manage the leasing process from initial application through movein.
- Process applications in accordance with approved rental criteria and departmental procedures.
- Communicate with applicants regarding required documentation, application status, and next steps.
- Coordinate applicant screening and approval processes.
- Maintain accurate leasing records and documentation.
- Prepare lease documents and coordinate lease signings.
- Coordinate scheduled movein dates with applicants and internal departments.
- Ensure required leasing documentation is completed prior to movein.
- Ensure leasing activities are completed in accordance with applicable program and organizational requirements.
- Maintain timely applicant communication to reduce delays in the leasing process.
- Maintain awareness of available and upcoming vacant homes.
- Coordinate with the Property Manager regarding leasing priorities.
- Coordinate with Maintenance regarding anticipated unit readiness.
- Travel to properties to show available homes to prospective residents when required.
- Inspect vacant units prior to scheduled moveins to verify the home is presentation and movein ready from the resident experience perspective.
- Immediately communicate identified readiness concerns to the Property Manager and appropriate Maintenance leadership.
- Confirm required leasing and movein documentation is complete prior to key transfer.
- Support movein inspections and resident orientation activities when applicable.
- Monitor assigned applications and identify barriers impacting scheduled moveins.
- Provide regular updates regarding leasing activity and anticipated moveins.
- Serve as a welcoming and professional first point of contact for guests visiting
- Greet guests and determine the purpose of their visit.
- Direct guests to the appropriate team member or department.
- Answer incoming general telephone calls and provide professional and courteous assistance.
- Identify the nature of incoming calls and appropriately route inquiries to the responsible team member or department.
- Respond to general questions within the scope of the position.
- Avoid providing information or making decisions outside of assigned authority.
- Accurately document and communicate messages when the appropriate team member is unavailable.
- Maintain awareness of organizational departments and general areas of responsibility to ensure guests and callers are appropriately directed.
- Maintain a professional, welcoming, and servicefocused environment for residents, applicants, community partners, and other visitors.
