HOUSEKEEPING SUPERVISOR

Homes for the Homeless (HFH) is searching for an experienced Housekeeping Supervisor for our Families w/ Children facility in the Jamaica, Queens area. As the Housekeeping Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in our organization, overseeing the performance of our dedicated housekeeping staff, ensuring a clean, well-maintained, and safe environment for our families in the facility. Homes for the Homeless operates shelters for families experiencing homelessness in NYC. Our family residences are more than just a place to sleep. Families can make the most of their stay through accessing an array of onsite programs. Many of these programs are also available to people living in the local community. Our goal is to have a positive impact so families can thrive long after they leave our shelters.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise housekeeping staff and conduct disciplinary actions if needed.
- Train recently hired staff on facility cleaning standards in collaboration with Director of Buildings (DOB)
- Ensure that the units are clean thoroughly as they become vacant.
- Oversee the packing of residents’ belongings and transfer to moving van and/or storage upon exit.
- Ensure that the floors of the facility are swept and waxed thoroughly, including all the programs in the facility.
- Ensure that the outside grounds of the facility are clean and maintained up to standard.
- Report on the need for repairs and/or supplies to the DOB.
- Ensure that the employee lounge, offices, and restrooms are clean.
- Oversee the collection and removal of trash.
- Ensure that supplies orders are processed on time.
- Maintain accurate inventory of supplies and materials.
- Assist housekeeping staff with cleaning duties when needed and short staff.
- Other related duties as requested by DOB.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 3-5 years housekeeping experience.
- Experience in supervising the housekeeping team.
- Able to lift, up to sixty pounds.
- Able to walk and stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Able to work a flexible schedule when needed.
