About the Position:
Homes for America is a mission-driven, nonprofit organization dedicated to developing and preserving affordable rental housing enhanced with services in the mid-Atlantic region. The HFA portfolio serves roughly 7,500 residents in 65 properties. We are seeking a mission-oriented analyst to support our portfolio management team, led by our Vice President, Portfolio Management, with support from our Systems Analyst. This position is a great opportunity for someone with strong analytical skills to enter the affordable housing field. Responsibilities:
- Ensuring data integrity and utilizing data analytics and business intelligence tools to drive portfolio performance
- Identify property performance issues through monthly monitoring of property financial data using MRI software platform
- Identify solutions for carbon reduction and energy efficiency gains in the portfolio through energy data management
- Manage contracts to ensure timely execution, compliance, and alignment with organizational requirements
- Oversee grant management activities, including tracking deadlines, reporting requirements, and performance outcomes
- Support resident services impact through demographic data management
- In collaboration with the Systems Analyst, evaluate and recommend business process improvements
- Support portfolio team with tracking of compliance-related due diligence
- Share insights on key metrics through accessible visualizations for organizational leadership
Qualifications:
This position requires a high level of independent, analytical work, strong interpersonal skills and good judgment. Staff juggle several projects at a time and regularly adjust priorities based on new deadlines in collaboration with management. Staff are expected to proactively communicate project updates or barriers. They are supported by a collaborative, collegial environment and responsive management. Specific qualifications include:
- Commitment to HFA’s mission to develop and preserve quality affordable housing enhanced with supportive services
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, preferably in finance, accounting, business intelligence or planning
- 1-3 years of job and/or internship experience
- Ability to understand and analyze financial statements, focus on a technology-forward analytical approach
- Intermediate to advanced skills in data analysis and Microsoft Excel with the ability to use technology to automate analysis and improve reporting accuracy
- Excellent interpersonal and business communication skills, both written and verbal
- High level of organization, attention to detail and follow-through
- Data and growth-oriented with a passion for making an impact
- Self-starter with ability to master new tasks and technologies quickly
Compensation and Benefits:
Starting salary range: $68,000-$77,000
