What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Project Manager of Construction position at Homes by Josh Doyle?
Assistant Project Manager
(MUST LIVE WITHIN Commuting Distance to our Headquarters)
Homes by Josh Doyle (HbJD) is a highly awarded custom home builder recognized for design innovation and unmatched structural quality. We don’t just build houses; we curate experiences. We take pride in the unique journey we offer every customer—a journey where visionary design meets precision engineering.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Assistant Project Manager to join our residential construction team. In this role, you will work directly with our build team to oversee the end-to-end construction of unique, high-performance single-family homes.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule Management: Assist in developing and maintaining precision construction schedules to ensure homes are completed on time and within budget.
- Subcontractor Coordination: Serve as a primary point of contact for trades (electricians, plumbers, framers, etc.), ensuring the job site is fully prepared for their arrival and scope of work.
- Site Management: Maintain a "white-glove" job site. Manage the logistics of material deliveries, dumpster rotations, and equipment placement to ensure a clean, safe, and efficient workspace for all trades.
- Quality Control: Conduct daily site walkthroughs to ensure work meets municipal codes, safety regulations, and the rigorous "HbJD" structural standards.
- Budget & Logistics: Monitor project costs, review purchase orders for accuracy, and manage material returns to maintain budget integrity.
- Documentation: Manage daily logs, customer communications, schedule updates, and weekly progress reports.
- The Customer Experience: Lead homebuyer walkthroughs to document "punch list" items. Collaborate with the build team to ensure every warranty item is resolved and every home is delivered in flawless condition.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Project Management is a plus, but equivalent passion and aptitude are valued.
- Technical Proficiency: Must be "tech-forward"—comfortable with Google Suite, CRM software, and utilizing AI tools to increase efficiency.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written skills. You must be able to hold subcontractors accountable while maintaining professional relationships and keeping customers informed throughout the build.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to navigate active construction sites, perform site clean-up, and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Experience: Prior construction knowledge is a plus, but we are willing to train the right candidate who has a passion to learn the construction industry.
What Success Looks Like
- The "Zero-Punch" Goal: Closing homes with zero outstanding items and upholding our promise of unmatched quality.
- Proactive Problem Solving: Identifying potential delays—such as weather or supply chain shifts—before they impact the timeline and bringing actionable solutions to the build team.
- Growth Mindset: Mastering the "HbJD" way of building and progressing toward a Senior Project Manager role.
