Corporate Controller – Construction, Energy, or Infrastructure Industry Experience Required

Location: Blairsville, PA (On-site with potential for hybrid work flexibility)

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Team: Leads 2–3 finance staff

Homer City Redevelopment LLC is seeking a seasoned Corporate Controller with a strong background in construction, infrastructure, energy, or real estate development. This role is critical to managing the financial operations of a large-scale redevelopment project and future ventures. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in project-based accounting, EPC workflows, and government-funded financial reporting, ensuring the company’s financial systems and reporting are accurate, compliant, and strategically aligned.


Position Summary

The Corporate Controller plays a vital leadership role in managing all accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance. This position supports the financial infrastructure of the Homer City redevelopment project and future ventures. In partnership with the CFO, the Controller ensures the accuracy of financial data, optimizes financial systems (NetSuite), and provides critical financial insights to support organizational strategy and growth.


Core Responsibilities


General Ledger & Systems (NetSuite):

  • Configure and maintain the GL to support EPC workflows and meet reporting needs of government funders, lenders, and internal stakeholders.
  • Implement job costing, fixed asset, and A/P modules tailored to the business.
  • Build out the chart of accounts and define user roles and approval workflows.


Financial Reporting & Accounting:

  • Manage all accounting cycles, including monthly close, year-end reporting, and grant/loan compliance.
  • Prepare timely and accurate financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Align expenditures with budgets, especially for grant-funded activities.


Policy & Compliance:

  • Develop and enforce accounting policies and procedures.
  • Implement a system of internal controls and integrate it within the financial systems.


Audit Readiness:

  • Lead annual audit preparation and coordination with external auditors.
  • Ensure all financial statements are GAAP-compliant and audit-ready.


Planning & Analysis:

  • Lead the annual budgeting process and perform budget-to-actual variance analysis.
  • Provide financial analysis to support executive decisions and operational planning.
  • Deliver timely ad hoc reports and strategic insights.


Day-to-Day Financial Operations:

  • Oversee accounts payable and routine financial activities.
  • Coordinate tax filings with external accounting firms.


Team Leadership & Development:

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of 2–3 finance professionals.
  • Clarify roles, set performance expectations, and provide regular feedback.
  • Conduct performance reviews and foster continuous professional growth.


Qualifications


Experience:

  • 7–10 years of progressive accounting/finance experience.
  • At least 3–4 years of direct managerial or supervisory experience.
  • Background in audit and/or infrastructure or construction-related accounting is a plus.


Technical Skills:

  • Advanced NetSuite proficiency required.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and audit coordination.
  • Familiarity with grant compliance and project-based accounting.


Leadership & Communication:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, establish effective controls, and drive results.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with experience presenting financial information to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • High integrity, strategic thinking, and alignment with organizational mission.


Education & Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • CPA and/or MBA strongly preferred.
