Job Summary

HomePride Bank is a family owned community bank seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Loan Officer to join our financial services team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for guiding clients through the loan process, assessing their financial needs, and providing expert advice on mortgage lending, retail loans, Agricultural loans, and commercial financing options. Your proactive approach will help clients achieve their financial goals while ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company policies. Responsibilities

  • Evaluate loan applications by analyzing credit reports, financial statements, and other relevant documentation to determine borrower eligibility.
  • Assist clients in understanding various loan products, including mortgage lending, retail loans, Agricultural loans, and commercial financing options.
  • Use Loan Origination Systems (LOS) and financial software to process applications efficiently and accurately.
  • Ensure all loan files comply with Fair Housing regulations, TILA (Truth in Lending Act), guidelines, and other relevant federal and state regulations.
  • Negotiate terms with clients to reach mutually beneficial agreements while maintaining compliance with loan regulations and company policies.
  • Collaborate with mortgage servicing teams to facilitate smooth loan processing and underwriting procedures.
  • Build strong relationships with clients through excellent customer service, clear communication, and ongoing support throughout the loan lifecycle.
  • Conduct credit analysis and risk assessments for both retail and commercial lending scenarios.
  • Maintain detailed records of client interactions, contracts, and compliance documentation using accounting software and industry-specific tools.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, financial regulations, and changes in banking or mortgage lending practices to provide expert guidance.
  • Community involvement from volunteer time to building strong community partnerships.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Loan Officer or in a similar financial sales role within banking or mortgage lending environments.
  • Strong knowledge of industry regulations including Fair Housing laws, TILA, FNMA guidelines, and banking compliance standards.
  • Proficiency with Loan Origination Systems (LOS), financial software and basic math skills including 10 key typing.
  • Excellent negotiation skills coupled with the ability to communicate complex information clearly to clients.
  • Experience in credit analysis, underwriting support, mortgage servicing, and risk assessment for commercial or retail loans.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships through client communication and exceptional customer service skills.
  • Familiarity with mortgage processing steps from application through closing; knowledge of contracts and legal documentation is a plus.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic math skills necessary for accurate calculations related to loan amounts, interest rates, payments, and creditworthiness assessments.
