Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals to provide high-quality care and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities, aging needs, or health challenges. This role involves supporting residents in their daily activities, promoting independence, and ensuring a safe and nurturing environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to patient-centered care, excellent communication skills, and experience working with diverse populations in home or community settings.
Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Provide medication administration and monitor vital signs in accordance with care plans
- Support residents during meal preparation and feeding, ensuring nutritional needs are met
- Implement and follow individualized care plans tailored to each resident’s needs
- Assist with mobility using equipment such as Hoyer lifts and ensure safe transfer techniques
- Observe and document patient behavior, health status, and progress while maintaining HIPAA compliance
- Support residents with dementia, Alzheimer's, autism, or other cognitive impairments through specialized care strategies
- Engage residents in social activities to promote mental well-being and community integration
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning tasks as needed
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and team members to deliver comprehensive care
Experience
- Prior experience in assisted living, long-term care, home health, hospice care, or group home settings is preferred
- Knowledge of patient monitoring, medication administration, and vital signs measurement is highly desirable
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or cognitive impairments such as dementia or autism is a plus
- Certifications such as First Aid, CPR, HIPAA training, or nursing assistant credentials are advantageous
- Previous roles involving patient observation, caregiving for seniors or individuals with disabilities, or working within care plans are beneficial
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when required and demonstrate patience and empathy in caregiving roles
