Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor residents' health status by observing patient behavior and vital signs; report any concerns promptly
- Administer medications following prescribed care plans and HIPAA regulations
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning in accordance with dietary needs
- Support residents during recreational activities and social engagements to promote engagement and community participation
- Operate specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts and assist with transfers safely
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and adhering to infection control protocols
- Document care activities accurately in compliance with healthcare regulations and facility policies
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, families, and team members to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, fostering a respectful and caring atmosphere
Requirements
- Prior experience in group home settings, assisted living, home health, hospice care, nursing homes, or working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is preferred
- Knowledge of patient monitoring, vital signs measurement, medication administration, Alzheimer's/dementia/memory care is highly desirable
- Certifications such as First Aid and CPR are required; additional certifications like HIPAA training are a plus
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary and assist with transfers using equipment like Hoyer lifts
- Strong communication skills and patience when working with diverse populations including seniors and individuals with disabilities
- Experience in meal preparation, care planning, and working within long-term care environments is advantageous
