Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Care Farm Manager to oversee daily operations at our farm dedicated to animal care, horticulture, and sustainable agriculture. Duties
- Supervise farm staff and volunteers, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to safety protocols
- Oversee animal husbandry tasks including feeding, health monitoring, and handling of various farm animals such as horses, livestock, and poultry
- Maintain and repair farm equipment, including power tools, heavy machinery, irrigation systems, and farm vehicles; perform welding and equipment repairs as needed
- Operate heavy equipment such as forklifts and other farm machinery safely and effectively
- Manage crop cultivation activities including planting, watering, harvesting, greenhouse management, and horticultural practices
- Implement maintenance routines for buildings, fencing, irrigation systems, greenhouses, and other infrastructure using hand tools and power tools
- Ensure proper animal care standards are maintained in compliance with relevant regulations
- Assist with growing projects involving vegetables, herbs, or specialty crops; monitor plant health and growth conditions
- Conduct basic math calculations for inventory management, feed rations, or project planning
- Lead efforts in equipment maintenance and troubleshooting to minimize downtime
- Support community programs or educational initiatives related to farming and animal care
Qualifications
- Supervising experience in farm or agricultural settings preferred
- Mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in equipment repair and maintenance
- Strong background in animal husbandry and animal handling techniques
- Experience operating forklifts, heavy machinery, power tools, hand tools, and irrigation systems
- Knowledge of farming practices including horticulture, greenhouse management, growing techniques, and sustainable agriculture methods
- Familiarity with equine care or experience working with horses is highly desirable
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate heavy equipment responsibly
- Welding skills or experience with farm infrastructure repairs is a plus
- Basic math skills for inventory tracking and project planning
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to supervise staff effectively
- Passion for sustainable farming practices with a focus on animal welfare and environmental stewardship
