Job Summary
We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Buffer to join our manufacturing team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for preparing, finishing, and maintaining metal and sheet metal components with precision and efficiency. Responsibilities
- Operate various fabrication machinery including press brakes, CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, plasma cutters, CNC laser cutters, and electrical discharge machining equipment to shape and finish metal components.
- Read and interpret detailed blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications to ensure accurate production.
- Set up and program CNC machines for precise cutting, drilling, or shaping tasks; troubleshoot machine issues as they arise.
- Use hand tools, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments to inspect parts for dimensional accuracy and quality compliance.
- Perform welding, sheet metal fabrication, assembly, and tooling adjustments to produce finished parts that meet quality standards.
- Operate cranes and forklifts safely to move raw materials or finished products within the workspace.
- Conduct quality inspections throughout the manufacturing process to identify defects or deviations from specifications; document findings thoroughly.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to safety protocols related to machining, welding, and material handling.
Experience
- Proven experience in manufacturing or fabrication environments involving machining, welding, or sheet metal work.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of tooling setup, machine calibration, and maintenance procedures.
- Familiarity with CNC programming software and operating CNC laser cutting or milling machines is highly desirable.
- Ability to read complex blueprints and technical drawings accurately; experience with GD&T is a plus.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools such as calipers, micrometers, hand grinders, and welding equipment.
- Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and quality assessments are essential.
- Knowledge of safety standards related to crane operation, forklift driving, electrical discharge machining, plasma cutting, and general manufacturing practices.
