Buffer - Finishing Department

Job Summary
We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Buffer to join our manufacturing team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for preparing, finishing, and maintaining metal and sheet metal components with precision and efficiency. Your expertise will ensure that products meet strict quality standards while adhering to safety protocols. Responsibilities

• Operate various fabrication machinery including press brakes, CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, plasma cutters, CNC laser cutters, and electrical discharge machining equipment to shape and finish metal components.
• Read and interpret detailed blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications to ensure accurate production.
• Set up and program CNC machines for precise cutting, drilling, or shaping tasks; troubleshoot machine issues as they arise.
• Use hand tools, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments to inspect parts for dimensional accuracy and quality compliance.
• Perform welding, sheet metal fabrication, assembly, and tooling adjustments to produce finished parts that meet quality standards.
• Operate cranes and forklifts safely to move raw materials or finished products within the workspace.
• Conduct quality inspections throughout the manufacturing process to identify defects or deviations from specifications; document findings thoroughly.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to safety protocols related to machining, welding, and material handling.

Experience

• Proven experience in manufacturing or fabrication environments involving machining, welding, or sheet metal work.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of tooling setup, machine calibration, and maintenance procedures.
• Familiarity with CNC programming software and operating CNC laser cutting or milling machines is highly desirable.
• Ability to read complex blueprints and technical drawings accurately; experience with GD&T is a plus.
• Skilled in the use of hand tools such as calipers, micrometers, hand grinders, and welding equipment.
• Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and quality assessments are essential.
• Knowledge of safety standards related to crane operation, forklift driving, electrical discharge machining, plasma cutting, and general manufacturing practices. Pay: From $17.25 per hour
