What are the responsibilities and job description for the Executive Assistant / Household Manager position at Homebased?
Executive Assistant / Household Manager — Evanston, IL
My wife and I are looking for one exceptional person to run the operational side of our lives, as well as provide general help as it relates to our (mild) disabilities. Full-time, 35–40 hrs/week.
We split the year between Evanston and South Florida. When we're here, you're in and out of our flat — organizing, managing our housekeeper, handling vendors, groceries, and meal planning. When we're south for the winter, the job flips remote: projects, scheduling, systems, and keeping everything moving from wherever you are.
Must live within ~20 minutes of downtown Evanston. You'll be at our flat often enough that a long commute would wear thin fast.
What you'd own:
- Organizing and improving our home
- Managing vendors, maintenance, and repairs across multiple homes and vehicles — tracking what's due before it's overdue
- Meal planning and grocery shopping, including finding recipes that fit specific dietary needs
- Health-related scheduling, errands, and day-to-day life admin
- Long-running projects that require research, follow-up, and refusing to let things go dormant
What we're actually looking for: ownership. You notice what needs doing and do it. You take a vague brief — "find a table that works" — and come back with real options, then handle the ordering and delivery. When something stalls, you try a different angle instead of waiting for us to ask about it again.
What this isn't: a task-execution job with a to-do list handed to you each morning. It's also not corporate EA work — no board decks, no calendar Tetris. The skills overlap; the context doesn't.
Occasional travel with us. Compensation commensurate with experience.
Interested? Message me and I'll send the full role description.
