What are the responsibilities and job description for the Residential Assistant position at Home Sweet Home?
We are looking for a competent Caregiver to care for our clients in a professional and compassionate manner. The ideal candidate will be patient and friendly with excellent communication skills. You should be able to follow instructions and perform a variety of tasks to help clients with daily living needs.
Caregiver Requirements
- Must be available to work a minimum of 20 hours weekly and weekends are required. Saturday, Sunday, or both.
- Must pass a criminal background check
- Must have a negative TB test
- Must be able to lift/move 25 pounds
- No certifications or degrees required to start
- Must be able to read and write in English, as you will be taking CEU classes on medications, laws, etc.
Responsibilities
- Help clients take prescribed medication (reminders and supervision)
- Dementia and Alzheimer's care
- Assist clients with ambulation, mobility, and transferring around the house or outside, fall prevention, bathing supervision
- Assist clients with personal care and hygiene, dressing, and grooming
- Help clients with physical therapy exercises
- Plan and prepare meals with assistance from the clients (when they are able)
- Be a pleasant and supportive companion
- Report any unusual incidents
- Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency
- Light Housekeeping that clients cannot complete on their own: dusting, changing bed linens, laundry, cleaning bathrooms
Skills
- Excellent knowledge of emergency response and first aid (CPR)
- Knowledge of housekeeping activities and cooking with attention to dietary constraints
- Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards
- Respectful and compassionate

- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills

- Physical endurance
- High school diploma or equivalent
Experience is not needed but is always appreciated! Training will be on site with an experienced caregiver ready to answer any and all questions on how to care for the needs and wants of our Elderly.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.50 - $18.00 per hour
