Job Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Personal Support Specialists to provide high-quality care and assistance to individuals in various settings, including home, community, assisted living, and long-term care facilities. This role involves supporting clients with daily activities, health monitoring, and emotional well-being, ensuring they receive respectful and personalized care tailored to their needs. The ideal candidate will have experience working with diverse populations, including seniors, individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, dementia, or other health challenges. A strong commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and dignity is essential.
Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Provide medication administration and monitor vital signs in accordance with care plans
- Support patients with mobility using equipment such as Hoyer lifts and assist with transfers
- Prepare nutritious meals aligned with dietary restrictions and preferences
- Perform light housekeeping tasks including cleaning and maintaining a safe environment
- Observe and document patient conditions, behaviors, and responses to care interventions
- Implement care plans developed by healthcare professionals to meet individual needs
- Support patients during activities that promote social engagement and emotional well-being
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality
- Respond promptly to emergencies using first aid skills when necessary
- Assist with specialized care such as Alzheimer's or dementia care, hospice support, or memory care
Requirements
- Prior experience in home & community care, assisted living, nursing homes, or long-term care settings preferred
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy standards
- Certifications such as First Aid are highly desirable
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when required for patient transfers or mobility assistance
- Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and safety oversight
- Compassionate attitude with excellent communication skills
- Ability to work independently while following detailed care plans
- Flexibility to work various shifts as needed; some roles may require evening or weekend availability
- Valid driver’s license preferred for roles involving community-based support
