Duties and Responsibilities

The Service Technician is responsible for keeping our facilities and vehicles operating and repairing any problems when they are discovered before they have a chance to worsen. The Service Technician will usually be required to perform a wide range of repair tasks found around a facility or on a vehicle. This Service Technician is frequently performing job responsibilities outdoors. Some other tasks of the Service Technician may be called upon to do include:

• Performing routine maintenance around the building such as fixing structural damage, for example, window, door, or wall repair
• Repairing broken or leaking plumbing to avoid water damage and restore full use of water fixtures
• Basic electrical wiring when a shortage or severed wire occurs
• Preforming routine maintenance on petroleum equipment, for example, dispensers, hoses, nozzles, and tanks to name a few (training provided)
• Applying preventative measures to the buildings or vehicles to reduce the risk of future problems
• Fixing potential safety hazards to avoid injuries

Skills and Qualifications

The Service Technician requires a diverse mix of both hard and soft skills, particularly manual labor skills, including:

• Plumbing knowledge to address leaks, clogs or other drainage problems
• Basic electrical wiring capabilities
• Carpentry ability to handle basic repairs around the building
• Automotive repair ability to handle basic vehicle repairs
• Grounds-keeping if the facility contains lawns or other outdoor areas in need of maintenance
• Interpersonal skills to interact with employees or customers of the facilities in a pleasant manner
• Attention to detail to ensure that all jobs are completed in an exemplary manner and nay potential hazards or warning signs of problems are not overlooked
• Physical stamina to handle a full shift of being active and working on a facility, vehicle or outdoors

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma
• Class E/Chauffeur's license (minimum)
• Clean driving record

Beneficial Qualifications

• HVAC experience
• Electrical experience
• Class B license
• Trade school in related field
• Petroleum industry experience

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.  This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day (eight hours) sometimes outdoors.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities require by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth precepting and the ability to adjust focus.
