Position Overview

Home Repair Baton Rouge is seeking a highly experienced, dependable Working Construction Foreman and Lead Handyman to supervise our field crew and oversee residential repair and renovation projects.

This is a hands-on leadership position for someone with extensive construction and home-repair experience. The person hired will work directly with our owner during the transition and will gradually assume responsibility for leading the crew, troubleshooting job-site problems, coordinating daily work, and ensuring that every project meets our quality standards.

This is not an entry-level or apprentice position. Applicants must already possess strong construction knowledge, leadership ability, their own dependable work truck, and their own tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise crew members on residential repair and renovation projects
• Review the scope of work and organize daily job-site activities
• Assign tasks and make sure work is completed correctly and efficiently
• Perform hands-on construction and repair work as needed
• Troubleshoot problems and determine the actual source of an issue instead of applying temporary fixes
• Communicate job progress, material needs, and unexpected conditions to the owner
• Make job-site decisions while staying within the approved scope of work
• Maintain professional workmanship and quality-control standards
• Ensure tools, materials, and customer property are handled responsibly
• Keep job sites clean, organized, and safe
• Communicate respectfully and professionally with customers and crew members
• Help train and guide less-experienced workers
• Be willing to go the extra mile to complete projects properly

Required Experience

Qualified applicants should have substantial hands-on experience in several of the following areas:

• General construction and home repairs
• Residential renovations and remodeling
• Carpentry and framing
• Flooring installation and repair
• Interior and exterior painting
• Roofing and roof repairs
• Fascia, soffit, and siding repairs
• Drywall installation and finishing
• Exterior wood repair
• Trim, doors, and molding
• Demolition and job-site preparation
• Diagnosing water intrusion, wood deterioration, and other underlying problems

Minimum Requirements

• At least 7–10 years of hands-on construction, remodeling, or professional handyman experience preferred
• Previous crew-lead, foreman, or supervisory experience strongly preferred
• Must own a dependable, clean, and presentable work truck capable of transporting tools and materials
• Must own the basic hand and power tools necessary to perform construction and handyman work
• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Must be capable of operating without constant supervision
• Must understand measurements, materials, basic construction methods, and safe tool use
• Must be comfortable working from ladders and performing exterior and roofing-related work
• Must consistently arrive on time and be prepared to work
• Must be dependable, honest, respectful, and professional
• Must take pride in producing clean, finished, customer-ready work
• Must be willing to perform different types of repair and renovation work as projects require
• Must be able to communicate clearly with the owner, customers, and crew members

This position is intended for an experienced construction professional who is ready to lead a team and accept responsibility for daily field operations. We are not seeking someone who must be taught basic construction skills.
