What are the responsibilities and job description for the Organizing Project Assistant — Part-Time / Project-Based position at Home Organizing Services?
We are a growing professional organizing and home transition company serving clients throughout North Atlanta, including Brookhaven, Buckhead, Sandy Springs, Dunwoody, Roswell, Alpharetta, Milton, and Johns Creek.
We're looking for an exceptionally reliable, capable person to assist with hands-on organizing projects in clients' homes.
This is not housecleaning, interior design, or a desk job.
You might spend a project sorting a pantry, resetting a closet, unpacking a home after a move, categorizing storage, preparing donations, labeling systems, breaking down boxes, or working alongside a lead organizer on a whole-home project.
What the work looks like
You'll work alongside a lead organizer to:
- Sort and categorize household belongings
- Organize closets, kitchens, storage spaces and other areas of the home
- Unpack and put away belongings after moves
- Prepare items for donation, consignment, relocation or disposal
- Assemble simple organizing systems
- Label, measure and inventory items when needed
- Move bins, boxes and household items
- Maintain a calm, professional environment while clients make decisions
- Help leave every space noticeably more functional than we found it
Some projects are highly organized homes that need refinement. Others begin with boxes, clutter or an overwhelmed client. You should be comfortable with both.
You may be a great fit if you are:
Extremely reliable. If you commit to a project, people can count on you.
Fast and productive. You naturally keep moving and don't need someone to continually tell you what to do next.
Organized, but practical. We care more about functional systems than making every pantry look like Instagram.
Good with people. Our clients are inviting us into their private homes. Warmth, discretion and good judgment matter.
Comfortable taking direction. You don't need to be the person designing the entire system. You can understand the plan and execute your part exceptionally well.
Observant. You notice the half-empty box, the items that belong upstairs or the category that has started forming and handle it.
Previous professional organizing experience is welcome but not required. We can teach our method. Reliability, judgment and work ethic are harder to teach.
Requirements
- Reliable personal transportation
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to travel throughout our North Atlanta service area
- Comfortable standing, bending, climbing stairs and working physically for several hours
- Able to lift approximately 30–40 lbs when needed
- Smartphone and reliable communication
- Comfortable working inside private residences
- Willing to complete a background check
- Professional, discreet and respectful around clients and their belongings
Schedule
This is initially part-time and project-based rather than guaranteed weekly hours.
Most assignments will be scheduled in advance and typically run approximately 4–8 hours. As client volume grows, there is potential for substantially more regular work and increased responsibility.
Compensation
$22–$25/hour to start, depending on experience and capability.
Higher compensation is available as someone demonstrates the ability to take greater ownership of projects and eventually manage portions of jobs independently.
