A Day in the Life:
As the Donor Stewardship Manager, you will optimize and evaluate the comprehensive donor stewardship plan, manage planned giving efforts, and conduct strategic prospect research. This position ensures meaningful engagement with donors through thoughtful stewardship touchpoints, execution of naming opportunities for campaign and legacy donors, and research of new and existing major donors to strengthen fundraising pipeline.
How This Position Contributes to Our Mission
- Manage the comprehensive donor stewardship plan through continuous evaluation for effectiveness and efficiency, providing recommendations for improvements and adjustments as needed.
- Track and analyze donor interactions and responses to stewardship efforts, utilizing data to refine strategies and enhance donor relationships.
- Collaborate with Grants, Outreach, and Development team to develop creative and meaningful ways to engage, recognize, and retain donors.
- Manage and maintain donor recognition and naming opportunities, ensuring accurate and proper execution for all legacy and campaign donors.
- Create and then manage a system to obtain and track all naming opportunity agreements ensuring alignment with the policy.
- Manage and grow the planned giving program, the 1880 Society, by developing strategies to identify, cultivate, and steward legacy donors.
- Manage and track planned giving commitments, ensuring proper acknowledgement and stewardship.
- Manage targeted education communications to inform donors about planned giving opportunities and benefits.
- Conduct in-depth prospect research to identify potential major donors, providing insights into their capacity, philanthropic interests, and engagement strategies.
- Play a critical role in supporting the organization’s $100M campaign efforts, ensuring donors remain engaged, recognized, and inspired to increase their support.
- Must have strong knowledge of donor engagement strategies, stewardship best practices, and planned giving principles.
- Must possess excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
- Must be detail-oriented and can manage multiple tasks and projects.
- Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling donor communications.
- Must have a minimum of a High School Diploma or GED. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in fundraising, donor stewardship, prospect research, or a related field.
- Experience with prospect research tools and databases (i.e., WealthEngine, DonorSearch, or similar).
