GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The Fire Life Safety Director (FLSD) is responsible for the protection of lives and property in the event of a fire or any other emergency. The FLSD is charged with planning and implementing all fire and life safety plans, ensuring all systems associated with fire safety are in working order, and making sure that the building under your care is up to the most current fire codes. The FLSD commands the Fire Brigade in an emergency and must be aware of the evacuation plans and all other preparations for an emergency.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitoring and operation of the fire alarm and elevator system panels
Monitor and test the stand by generator monthly and record finding in generator logbook.
Serve as the primary point of contact for First Responders
Be present and walk through with inspectors from FDNY, Department of Building, and any other agency conducting inspections.
Work closely with property management, security, and building staff
Perform facility safety inspections and testing including monthly fire extinguisher and elevator fire service
Conduct fire drills and evacuations once per shift monthly, and keep record of drills.
Provides clear direction to clients, visitors, vendors, and employees in a professional fashion on a regular basis and during emergency situations
Ensure all systems associated with fire safety are in working order.
Perform CPR/AED and basic first aid if required
Reporting complaints and or issues to the Security Director immediately
In the event of an emergency, Essential Employees are required to report to work as scheduled

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or equivalent required
Valid Fire Life Safety Director License (T89)
Must be able to stand or walk constantly
Must be able to make clear decisions and handle situations fairly under pressure and during stressful situations
Must be able to interact effectively with the facility staff and client population (verbally and in writing)
Must be willing and able to be certified in First Aid/CPR
Must be willing and able to remain at post beyond regularly scheduled hours for appropriate relief, if necessary
Must be able to perform physical activities such as run, lift etc.
Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus
