What are the responsibilities and job description for the Scheduling Coordinator position at Home Instead - Bloomington, IN?
Service Coordinator (Scheduling) - Home Instead Bloomington, IN
Make a Real Difference: Join Our Mission to Enhance Senior Care!
Every day, seniors in Bloomington count on us to show up. As our scheduling coordinator, you make that happen — matching Care Professionals to clients, solving problems fast, and being the steady center of our operation.
No degree required. We hire for reliability, calm under pressure, and genuine care for people. Prior scheduling or coordination experience is a plus, but we'll teach the right person. What we can't teach is work ethic and follow-through — and that's what we're really after.
We're looking for someone ready to put down roots.
Your work will directly contribute to our goal of expanding compassionate care for aging adults and fostering a high-quality culture, supporting our vision of "Making lives better: every day, every interaction."
Key Responsibilities: The Heart of Our Operations
As the Service Coordinator, you are the cornerstone of our service delivery, ensuring seamless scheduling and the highest quality matches between our clients and Care Professionals.
What you'll do day to day
- Build and manage schedules for clients and Care Professionals, with a focus on quality matches and continuity of care
- Answer incoming calls with warmth and professionalism — you're often the first voice people hear
- Monitor and respond to scheduling changes quickly, including evenings and weekends as needed
- Coordinate with clients, families, and Care Professionals to resolve issues before they become problems
- Maintain accurate records in our scheduling and care management systems
- Identify opportunities to expand and improve care for existing clients
- Support Care Professional engagement and help maintain a team culture people want to be part of
What we're really looking for
We care less about your resume and more about how you work. Here's what matters to us:
- You stay calm and organized when things change fast — because they will
- You communicate clearly, honestly, and with patience — even when conversations are hard
- You follow through. Every time. People are counting on you and you take that seriously
- You're comfortable with computers and pick up new software without needing to be walked through it twice
- You treat seniors, families, and coworkers with genuine respect — not just professionalism on paper
- You can handle confidential information and use sound judgment under pressure
Core Skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to listen effectively.
- Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrate sound judgment, good decision-making, and effective interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
Professional Requirements
- Must be able to work evenings or weekends as required.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check, MVR check, and drug screen.
