Critical Care Registered Nurse

Role Description This full-time, on-site Critical Care Registered Nurse role is based in Rahway, NJ. The Critical Care RN will provide direct, high-acuity nursing care to patients in critical or rapidly changing conditions, including continuous monitoring, assessment, and timely interventions. Responsibilities include administering medications and treatments, managing ventilators and other advanced equipment as appropriate, and collaborating closely with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans. The nurse will educate patients and families on treatment plans and self-care, document all care accurately and promptly, and adhere to all clinical, safety, infection control, and regulatory standards. The role also involves participating in care conferences, supporting transitions of care, and contributing to quality improvement initiatives within the organization.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated proficiency in Nursing fundamentals, including patient assessment, care planning, and evidence-based nursing practice.
• Strong expertise in Critical Care Nursing, with experience managing high-acuity or unstable patients and using advanced monitoring and life-support technologies.
• Working knowledge of Medicine and Critical Care Medicine principles to interpret clinical data, recognize early signs of deterioration, and respond appropriately.
• Background or exposure in Emergency Nursing is preferred, including rapid triage, stabilization, and crisis management skills.
• Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of New Jersey.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications; PALS certification is a plus, especially for pediatric patient care.
• Previous experience in ICU, CCU, step-down, ED, or other critical care settings strongly preferred.
• Excellent clinical judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and support patients and families with empathy and respect.
• Ability to work reliably on a full-time schedule, including possible evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
