What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pest Control Technician position at Home & Hive Pest Control?
$23–$27/hour base pay commission opportunities
Full-time, year-round | Monday–Friday | No weekends
Weekly pay | Paid lunch | Paid time off and holidays
At least one year of professional pest control experience required.
We’re probably a little different from the pest control company you’re used to.
If you’ve worked in this industry for a while, you know what good service looks like. You also know how frustrating it is when a packed schedule or lack of support keeps you from delivering it.
At Home & Hive, we’re building the kind of company we’d want to work for. We give technicians time to do a thorough service, trust them to use their judgment and listen when they see something we could do better. You’ll work directly with us, the owners, and we’ll back you up when a job needs extra attention.
We expect a lot in return: show up, represent the company professionally, care about the customer and finish what you start.
If you’ve ever thought, “I’d do this differently if it were my company,” we’d like to meet you.
A little about us
We’re a husband-and-wife team based in Celina, Texas. We started Home & Hive with live honeybee removal in 2014 and later expanded into residential pest control. We’re growing, but we want to grow with people who care about how the work gets done.
Our recurring visits are generally scheduled for about 45 minutes. That gives you time to inspect, complete the service, talk with the customer, recommend beneficial upgrades, and leave useful notes. We want customers to know their technician and feel confident calling us when something comes up.
What you’ll own
You’ll manage a recurring residential and commercial route and become the technician your customers know and trust.
- Notice what’s changed at each property and investigate customer concerns.
- Complete every part of the customer’s service, including de-webbing, treatments, yard granules, rodent stations or interior work as needed.
- Explain what you found, what you did and what the customer should expect.
- Recommend additional services when they would genuinely help.
- Leave clear notes and follow through on issues that need attention.
- Take pride in your route, truck, tools and appearance.
We’ll train you on our methods and support you as you take on more responsibility. This is physical, outdoor work in North Texas weather, and some jobs involve ladders, attics and carrying equipment.
More to learn. More ways to earn.
Your base pay is $23–$27/hour, depending on experience and licensing. You’ll also have opportunities to earn commission on eligible service upgrades, new customers you bring to Home & Hive, and specialty work. We’ll walk you through how those opportunities are paid during the interview.
If you’re interested in learning something different, we will train you alongside our team on live honeybee removal. Bee experience isn’t required. You will also have opportunities to learn rodent exclusion, mosquito control and termite work.
Who we’re looking for
We’re especially interested in someone who has independently serviced residential and commercial pest control customers and still cares about doing the work well.
You should be dependable, comfortable talking with homeowners, careful with products and documentation, and willing to speak up when you see a better way to do something. We want a teammate who can work independently and also knows when to ask for help.
Sales experience is a plus, but you don’t need to be a polished salesperson. Be willing to have those conversations, and we’ll help you get better at them.
You’ll need a valid driver’s license, a driving record that meets our insurance requirements, reliable transportation to our Celina area starting location, and the ability to perform physical outdoor work safely. Current Texas pest control credentials are preferred but not required. We provide training on our service standards and support applicable licensing.
