Position Summary: The Home Health Driver is responsible for safely transporting clients to and from medical appointments, therapy sessions, adult day programs, and other authorized destinations. The driver ensures a safe, comfortable, and courteous experience for clients while maintaining compliance with agency policies and state transportation regulations. Must be 25 years old with a clean driving record.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate agency vehicles to transport clients between their homes and designated locations.
- Assist clients in and out of the vehicle, providing mobility support as needed (e.g., walkers, wheelchairs).
- Ensure clients are securely seated and all safety restraints are properly fastened.
- Maintain accurate trip logs, mileage records, and schedules.
- Follow assigned routes and schedules while accommodating changes or delays professionally.
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report any maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
- Keep vehicles clean, sanitized, and well-maintained in accordance with agency standards.
- Communicate courteously and respectfully with clients, caregivers, and staff.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and agency safety policies.
- Maintain confidentiality of client information in compliance with HIPAA and company policy.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Minimum 1 year of driving experience (Preferred but not mandatory)
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to lift, assist, or transfer clients safely.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Dependable, punctual, and compassionate.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with elderly or disabled clients.
- Knowledge of local routes and geography.
- Prior employment in home health, hospice, or healthcare transportation.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for long periods while driving.
- Ability to assist clients with mobility limitations.
- Ability to perform vehicle checks and light cleaning duties.
Work Environment:
- Primarily field-based, driving to various client locations and healthcare facilities.
- Interaction with clients, caregivers, and healthcare staff on a daily basis.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 20 per week
