What are the responsibilities and job description for the Caregiver - Non-Medical Senior Homecare (overnights) position at Home Helpers Home Care?
Part/Full-Time Awake Overnight Caregiver
Awake overnight shifts between 8:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. | Local seniors’ homes
Looking for meaningful full-time work where you can make a real difference overnight? We are hiring dependable, compassionate experienced caregivers to help older adults stay safe, comfortable, and independent in their own homes.
This is an awake overnight position—caregivers must remain awake, alert, and available throughout the entire scheduled shift. This is non-medical, hands-on care. It can be physically and emotionally demanding, but it is deeply rewarding for the right person.
Pay and Training
Pay: $14–$18 per hour base pay (based on types of experience, range of professional experience, vaccination status, and other factors), with additional pay available for higher-skill care cases and couples care.
We provide:
- Paid background check, including fingerprints.
- Paid full-day orientation at your regular hourly rate.
- Paid client-specific training before new assignments.
- Ongoing paid training.
- A supportive small-company environment focused on thoughtful, responsible, high-quality care.
What You’ll Do
- Provide companionship, reassurance, and active overnight supervision.
- Assist with evening, bedtime, and overnight routines.
- Provide hands-on personal care and hygiene support for clients of all genders.
- Help with safe transfers, standing, walking, and repositioning using approved equipment such as gait belts or patient lifts when needed.
- Monitor for fall risks, changes in condition, safety concerns, and general well-being.
- Offer reminders for medications, safety, and routines, as directed in the care plan.
- Maintain a safe, clean, comfortable home environment within the scope of the care plan.
- Assist with light meals, errands, and pet care when assigned.
- Follow care plans and complete documentation accurately after each shift.
Requirements
You must have:
- Prior professional caregiving experience.
- Ability to work with all genders and provide personal care.
- Ability to work in homes with pets (and take care of the pets).
- Reliable and consistent awake overnight availability between 8:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m.
- The ability to remain awake, alert, and engaged throughout every scheduled shift.
- A valid driver’s license.
- A reliable vehicle available for work-related transportation.
- Active auto insurance.
- Valid identification, such as a Social Security card, passport, or birth certificate.
- The ability to transport clients and complete errands when needed.
No driver's license, vehicle, or insurance means this position is not a fit.
Who Thrives Here
This role is a strong fit for someone who is calm, patient, observant, and dependable—especially during overnight hours when a client may need reassurance, assistance, or a prompt response to a concern.
We are looking for caregivers who respect clients’ homes, routines, preferences, and dignity; can follow a care plan; and can think clearly without panicking when something unexpected happens.
Help seniors remain at home, maintain their routines, and preserve their independence overnight.
