Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor patients’ health by taking vital signs, observing symptoms, and reporting changes promptly
- Administer medications accurately following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure patient safety and confidentiality
- Support clients with meal preparation, nutrition needs, and proper hydration to promote health and comfort
- Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices to safely transfer residents with mobility challenges
- Maintain cleanliness of living spaces by performing light cleaning duties and ensuring a safe environment
- Document care activities meticulously, including patient observations, medication administration, and care plan updates
- Provide emotional support and companionship to foster a positive atmosphere for residents with dementia, Alzheimer’s, or developmental disabilities
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to implement individualized care plans aligned with best practices in senior, home health, hospice, or assisted living settings
- Follow all safety protocols during patient handling, including CPR and first aid procedures when necessary
Experience
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or group homes is highly preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of patient observation techniques and dementia or memory care strategies
- Hands-on experience with medication administration and vital signs monitoring
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and maintaining confidentiality in healthcare settings
- Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is advantageous
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when required for resident transfers or mobility assistance
- Strong background in home & community care services or home health environments is desirable
- Certification in CPR and first aid is required; additional certifications such as hospice care or nursing support are a plus
