Lafayette, LA Part Time
POSTED ON 9/8/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 1/5/2027

Job Overview

We’re building a small team of extraordinary people around a young man with significant autism who needs 1:1 support for most areas of daily living.

This is designed to be a meaningful side job: approximately 10-15hrs/week

Shifts available are: Weekdays 2-7 weekends 9-2 and 2-7 (school holidays and summer will follow the weekend schedule)

Predictable shifts, paid training, periodic pay step increases, and additional bonuses and perks.

Pay scale $16/hr training pay, periodic increases up to $28/hr - will be discussed in more detail in interviews with matched candidates.

Valuable work which allows the client to have safe, enjoyable and meaningful days; and provide his primary caregiver with much needed respite and recuperation time.

Challenges to the job are that this is a large frame, physically healthy, adult male, functioning with a toddler mental capacity. He experiences periodic sensory overload, resulting in impulsive behaviors.

We are looking for people who are experienced, calm and collected under pressure, confident, dependable and comfortable learning how to properly engage with the client.

ABA-informed training and support will be provided.

Our team is intentionally small - four caregivers and a backup team - for consistency and continuity of care. We use a private Group chat to communicate and trade shifts. We meet for a paid dinner every other month to discuss needs, provide team swag, and reinforce the importance and value of your work to our team.

Ideal team members: Autism/ABA trained special education teachers, RBTs, experienced DSWs/CNAs are preferred but character and fit are most important.
