Position Overview

Lidu Academy is seeking a dedicated Infant Room Teacher to join our team. This position is responsible for providing exceptional care and early education for infants (ages 6 weeks to 14 months). The ideal candidate will create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that promotes the developmental milestones of infants, while integrating the Assyrian language and culture into daily interactions. This role requires a deep understanding of infant development and a passion for fostering an environment of warmth, care, and early learning.

Key Responsibilities

Infant Care and Development

• Provide responsive, individualized care to infants based on their physical, emotional, and developmental needs
• Plan and implement age-appropriate activities to stimulate sensory exploration, motor development, and early language acquisition
• Create a calm, safe, and supportive environment that promotes trust, bonding, and exploration for each infant
• Monitor and support infant growth and development, documenting milestones and progress
• Ensure that infants' health, safety, and hygiene needs are met, including feeding, diapering, and nap routines

Social and Emotional Support

• Build strong, trusting relationships with infants through gentle interactions, eye contact, and positive reinforcement
• Providing a nurturing atmosphere where infants feel secure and loved
• Encourage social-emotional development by responding to infants' cues, fostering positive interactions, and supporting early attachment

Cultural Integration

• Integrate Assyrian cultural elements into daily routines, such as singing simple songs, telling stories, and using key words in Assyrian
• Introduce the infant to cultural traditions and sounds in a fun, sensory-friendly manner that enhances their early language skills

Health and Safety

• Ensure that infants are supervised at all times, maintaining a safe, clean, and comfortable environment
• Follow all health and safety guidelines, including sanitization, safe sleep practices, and age-appropriate nutrition
• Administer first aid and CPR if necessary, in accordance with certification requirements

Parent and Family Communication

• Maintain open communication with parents regarding their child’s daily activities, milestones, and any concerns or updates
• Share insights on infant development and offer guidance to parents on how they can support their child's early growth and learning
• Establish strong relationships with families by providing a welcoming and supportive environment for both children and parents

Team Collaboration

• Work collaboratively with fellow infant room teachers and staff to maintain a cohesive team environment
• Participate in team meetings and ongoing professional development to continually improve teaching practices and care standards
• Assist in setting up and maintaining the infant classroom, including preparing and organizing learning materials and play areas

Qualifications

Required

• A minimum of 1 year of experience as an infant caregiver or teacher in an early childhood education setting
• Associate or bachelor's degree in early childhood education, Child Development, or a related field
• Certification in Adult, Child, and Baby First Aid
• Understanding of infant development and age-appropriate practices
• Ability to provide warm, responsive care while supporting infants' emotional, physical, and cognitive development
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
• Willingness to integrate Assyrian language and culture into daily routines

Preferred

• Experience in an infant room or with infants (ages 6 weeks to 14 months)
• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field
• Spoken fluency in Assyrian is required. Reading and writing skills are a plus; support can be provided if needed.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 25lbs
• Ability to sit on the floor and engage with infants for extended periods
• Ability to operate classroom and office equipment (toys, learning materials, copier, phone, computer)
• Ability to follow infant care routines such as feeding, diapering, and providing comfort, as needed
