Duties
- Assist client with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene.
- Support client with mobility and transfers using proper techniques such as patient transfer methods to ensure safety.
- Monitor and document vital signs, medication administration, and changes in health status in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding to promote healthy eating habits.
- Provide companionship and engage in social activities to enhance mental well-being, especially with dementia care needs.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and organizing personal spaces.
- Offer transportation assistance for medical appointments, errands, or community outings while ensuring client safety at all times.
Experience
- Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, or developmental disabilities is highly preferred.
- Proven background in home health care or long-term care settings, including nursing homes or assisted living facilities.
- Familiarity with patient observation techniques, care plans, medication management, and patient monitoring.
- Knowledge of resident’s rights, dementia care strategies, hospice care principles, and Alzheimer’s care best practices.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training or manual handling are advantageous.
- Experience working with seniors or geriatrics populations is a plus; strong communication skills are essential for effective client interaction.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and assist with manual handling tasks while maintaining compliance with safety standards.
