About the Association:

The Home Builders Association of Greater Chattanooga (“HBAGC”) is a membership-driven 501 (c) (6) trade organization representing several hundred members across the Greater Chattanooga area involved in the single family and multifamily housing market, including home builders, land developers, and associated businesses involved in the residential construction industry. The HBAGC serves as the voice of the home building industry, providing advocacy, education, and networking opportunities to support its members and promote responsible growth in the region.

Position Summary:

The HBAGC is looking for a dynamic, organized, and self-motivated individual with a proven track record in meeting/event planning and program development. The Events and Sponsorship Director will be a key player in (1) advancing our mission to improve and enhance the home building industry of Greater Chattanooga, (2) providing valuable meetings and networking events for our members, and (3) generating non-dues revenue for the HBAGC.


The Events and Sponsorships Director is responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of all events hosted by the HBAGC. This role has the primary responsibility of ensuring that events align with the HBAGC’s mission, provide value to members, and generate non-dues revenue. The Events and Sponsorship Director collaborates with staff, volunteers, and sponsors to deliver high-quality events that strengthen the HBAGC brand and foster member engagement.


The ideal candidate for this role will have proven experience with meeting planning processes and best practices, a strong attention to detail, a flexible and positive attitude in a team environment, have a keen interest in using technology to better processes, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, and execute all HBAGC events, including, but not limited to the HBAGC home show(s), golf tournaments, monthly membership meetings, Board of Directors meetings, Executive Committee meetings, other committee meetings, banquets, luncheons, educational seminars, all networking events and meetings, and all other HBAGC events.
  • Manage event budgets, ensuring cost efficiency while achieving revenue goals.
  • Coordinate event logistics, including venue selection, catering, audio-visual needs, permits, and transportation.
  • Manage event timelines and ensure all deadlines are met.
  • Identify and secure event sponsors and in-kind donations to offset event costs and generate non-dues revenue.
  • Maintain positive relationships with existing and potential sponsors, HBAGC members and home show participants.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Officer to achieve revenue goals.
  • Work with event committees to assign tasks, provide guidance, and track progress.
  • Recruit and manage event volunteers, ensuring proper training and support during events.
  • Promote events through social media, email campaigns, and print materials.
  • Draft event-related communication, including invitations, announcements, flyers, and post-event reports.
  • Maintain detailed records of all event-related activities, including budgets, contracts, and attendance.
  • Provide post-event evaluations to identify successes and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Officer to report on event outcomes to the Board of Directors.
  • Participate with the Executive Officer and other staff in the development of all communications to members and the community, including newsletters, websites, and social media.
  • Facilitate rentals of the building’s banquet hall space.
  • Other duties as required by the Executive Officer.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in event planning, fundraising, or project management (preferred). 
  • Experience working with non-profit organizations or membership associations is a plus, as is outside sales experience.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets and meet financial goals.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in event management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and social media platforms.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work under tight deadlines.
  • High level of professionalism and attention to detail.
  • Creative problem-solver with a proactive mindset.
