As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you’ll work one-on-one with individuals to provide in-home and community-based support focused on daily living and skill-building.
Job Functions
- Direct Care Assistance: Provide support with personal hygiene, meal preparation, housekeeping, mobility, and feeding.
- Habilitation Support: Implement skill-building and ISP (Individualized Support Plan) goals.
- Community Engagement: Support participation in errands, recreation, and community-based learning.
- Companionship: Promote social connection, supervision, and emotional support.
- Service Documentation: Accurately complete daily records and EVV entries reflecting all services and goal progress.
- Communication: Report condition changes or incidents to the LifeCare Supervisor or after-hours coordinator.
Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma or GED required.
Experience:
- Minimum 3 months of caregiving or related experience required; 1 year preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English (interpreter required if not).
- Skilled in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Familiarity with ISP documentation and goal-setting.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Bilingual skills a plus.
Training/Certification:
- AHCCCS DCW Training or current CNA/LNA (AZBN).
- DCW Developmental Disability Training Module.
- Skill Building or Habilitation/ISP Training.
- Article 9 Certification.
- Prevention & Support Training (if applicable).
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
Licensure/Background Requirements:
- DPS Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance (or obtain within 90 days of hire).
- APS and Central Registry Check.
- Notarized Criminal History Affidavit (initial and every 3 years).
Classification
This position is classified as Non-Exempt as outlined by the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
Working Conditions
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- May require extended periods of sitting or standing.
- Classified as Non-Exempt (FLSA).
