The Districtwide Resource LPN and OOD G-Tube Services Nurse plays a vital role in supporting and collaborating with RN School Nurses across the district while providing specialized nursing services for an out-of-district (OOD) placement student. This position includes performing a daily midday G-tube feeding for an assigned out-of-district student and providing districtwide nursing support as needed. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a professional, positive attitude and the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative school nursing team. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact compassionately and professionally with students, families, and staff are essential. We are seeking a highly skilled Licensed Practical Nurse with excellent clinical, organizational, and communication skills, sound judgment, flexibility, and a strong sense of reliability. The successful candidate will receive comprehensive training and an individualized orientation specific to the student requiring G-tube feeding, ensuring confidence and competency in providing this specialized service. DETAILS

• Works under the general supervision of the Director of Health, Wellness, and Nursing, the Chief of Pupil Services, and the Superintendent/Receiver.
• Works collaboratively and cooperatively with RN School Nurses and school administrators throughout the district. Hours and assignments may vary based on district needs.
• Provides districtwide nursing support and coverage as assigned.
• Performs a daily midday G-tube feeding and related prescribed care for an assigned out-of-district placement student.
• Travels to and from the out-of-district placement daily; mileage reimbursement is provided for required travel.
• Receives comprehensive training and individualized orientation specific to the student receiving G-tube feeding services.
• Collaborates with school personnel to maintain a healthy and safe school environment.
• Assists with state-mandated health screening programs.
• Maintains accurate and up-to-date student health records.
• Demonstrates knowledge of and the ability to administer medications and treatments as ordered and in accordance with school policy regarding medication administration and specialized procedures.
• Provides medically prescribed nursing interventions, including care for ill or injured students.
• Supports or provides nursing coverage for SHINE Program students as assigned.
• Maintains accurate electronic SNAP documentation for medications, treatments, procedures, and daily nursing interventions.
• Maintains medical equipment and supplies to ensure proper functioning, storage, and availability.
• Serves as a health resource for school personnel, students, and families.
• Utilizes community resources to assist students with unmet health needs, including referrals to primary care providers when appropriate.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Graduate of a Licensed Practical Nursing Program approved by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing.
• Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of experience in pediatrics, community health, school nursing, or another relevant clinical setting preferred.
• CPR Certified.
• A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required for districtwide responsibilities and daily travel to an out-of-district placement.
• Strong clinical assessment, organizational, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to complete student-specific G-tube feeding training and competency validation provided by the district.

REQUIRED LICENSES

• Current Massachusetts Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.
• Current CPR/AED certification.
