Position Title: Classroom Aide
SUMMARY: This is an entry-level position for an individual who wants to begin a career working with young children in an early childhood classroom. On-the-job training and professional development provided. The classroom aide position is responsible for collaborating with classroom teachers and teacher assistants to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children from birth to age five. General duties for this position include, but are not limited to, assistance in preparation of learning activities, engagement with children through play, assistance with general classroom responsibilities and routines, especially during transitions, cleaning and organizing learning spaces, and building positive relationships with children, families, and co-workers.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or GED required

- Pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 119, Section 51A, you are a mandated reporter and held to the statutory reporting requirements.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist teachers with daily classroom operations and routines
- Help prepare, set up, and clean up classroom activities and materials
- Support classroom cleanliness sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, disinfecting toys/equipment, laundry, and any other duties assigned for helping the classroom sustain cleanliness
- Support classroom organization examples include but are not limited to helping set up classroom materials on shelves and on tables, assisting with unpacking materials (new orders) and setting up in the classroom, arranging closet space
- Assist with preparation of materials for learning activities examples include but are not limited to tracing and cutting materials, laminating items, decorating bulletin boards, materials, and equipment
- Engage with children through play and hands-on learning activities
- Assist with organizing child files under the direct supervision of the classroom teacher
- Assist under teachers' guidance with children during transitions, meals, rest time, and activities
- Setting up and putting away rest time materials (cots, blankets, etc.)
- Delivering meals to classrooms and returning meal trays to the kitchen
- Maintaining the cleanliness of classroom tables before mealtimes
- Cleaning up classroom tables following classroom mealtimes
- Making photocopies of classroom paperwork or materials related to the weekly lesson plan
- Swap out classroom manipulatives and other materials, under the guidance of classroom teachers
- Follow health, safety requirements, and practices
- Maintain positive interactions with children, families, and staff
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development
- Follow Head Start Performance Standards, EEC regulations, and program policies
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Classroom Teacher or Site Director
Starting Pay Rate: $17.47 per hour
Schedule: 30 hours per week, both full year and part year positions available
