Position Summary:
Join a team dedicated to every student’s success. As an Early Childhood Literacy Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting the classroom experience. The EC Literacy Specialist will specialize in literacy related skill building, including teaching students how to read and write. This position is for the 2026-2027 school year.
Responsibilities:
Instruction and Intervention
- Differentiate instruction when working with students to meet the needs of diverse and accelerated learners
- Provide individualized and small-group instruction to students identified as needing additional literacy support
Assessment
- Support teachers with the administration and interpretation of reading assessments
- Conduct data meetings with the teacher team to analyze results and develop intervention plans
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and report results to teachers, parents, and administrators
Collaboration
- Partner with classroom teachers to discuss student needs, observe students, and recommend effective teacher strategies that will meet both individual and whole group needs
- Support classroom teachers unit/lesson planning
- Effectively communicate with Primary Reading Specialist to provide a clear understanding of the measures that have been taken and what opportunities, if any remain
Program Development
- Working in conjunction with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction, stay current with research and best practices in literacy instruction.
- Provide professional development and training to educators on best practices, instructional strategies, and techniques to accommodate diverse learning styles.
- Conduct UFLI training for new teachers and refresher training for those
existing teachers.
Qualifications:
Required
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum of 5 years in ECE.
- Orton Gillingham Trained.
- Formally trained and experienced in teaching UFLI
Salary : $50,000 - $60,000
