Custodian/Maintenance for Holy Spirit School - Part-Time

Holy Spirit School is looking for a responsible, dependable custodian/maintenance person to maintain and protect our school facilities during the school day. Potential hours are 7:30am-1:30pm. The external and internal appearance of our building is a high priority as it reflects our image as a welcoming place for students and teachers. The ideal candidate will be experienced in a custodian/maintenance role focused on building upkeep. They will have great physical endurance to cover a large space. A keen eye for detail and diligence are also imperative in custodial maintenance jobs.

Building Cleanliness & Upkeep

• Ensure the overall cleanliness of classrooms, hallways, restrooms, offices, cafeteria, and common areas.
• Empty trash and recycling bins and replace liners as needed.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and sanitize floors and carpets as needed.
• Clean and disinfect restrooms, sinks, mirrors, and fixtures.
• Dust and wipe down surfaces, including windows, desks, and furniture.

Property & Grounds Maintenance

• Perform routine lawn care including mowing, trimming, and weeding.
• Maintain sidewalks and entryways, including snow and ice removal in winter.
• Ensure outdoor areas are free of litter and debris.
• Support seasonal maintenance as needed.

General Maintenance

• Conduct basic repairs (e.g., changing light bulbs, minor plumbing issues, replacing ceiling tiles).
• Report major maintenance needs to the administration.
• Maintain safe working conditions by addressing hazards promptly.

Support for School Staff & Community

• Assist administration, teachers, and staff with setup for events, meetings, and activities.
• Move furniture, supplies, and equipment as needed.

Other Expectations

• Follow all safety and health protocols.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism within the school environment.
• Perform other custodial or maintenance duties as assigned by the Principal or Administration.

Working Conditions

Position may require heavy lifting and exposure to chemicals, dust, dirt, and bacteria. The position may require reporting to work before or after regular office hours. Tasks must be performed according to the time frame provided so as to avoid the spread of undesirable smells, bacteria, rodents, and/or insects
