What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Principal position at Holy Name Parish School?
The Assistant Principal assists the Principal with all areas of school life: curriculum development and implementation, coaching and evaluating teachers, student conduct and support, and school-wide planning. The Assistant Principal also maintains a teaching role within the school.
Employment Status: Full-Time; July through June
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Administrative (80%)
● Assist with the implementation of the school’s teaching and learning vision; serve as a member of the Instructional Leadership Team
● Lead the school’s implementation of its social-emotional program and continued professional development
● Implement Tier II interventions in grades one through six
● Participate in the planning and supervision of school operations in grades one through six
● Oversee specific areas of student life and school culture as assigned
● Complete classroom observations as part of the teacher evaluation process
● Co-chair the student wellness committee
Classroom Teaching (20%)
● The role includes a part-time teaching role for approximately 20% of the school day
● As a classroom teacher, implement the designed curriculum and programs for that grade level and subject
● Prepare classroom lessons and activities according to best practices
● Adapt and modify techniques and materials for effectiveness as necessary
● Create a safe, nurturing classroom utilizing the school’s social-emotional learning program
Qualifications
● BA, preferably in education or related field; M.Ed preferred
● Leadership experience preferred
● 5 years of classroom teaching
● Experience with instructional technology (i.e. Google Classroom, Student Information System); experience with data information systems is a plus
● Ability to communicate effectively with parents and colleagues
● Well-organized
● Ability to handle sensitive, timely, and critical matters that require good judgment, respect, and discretion
