Role Description The Surgical Coordinator is responsible for managing all aspects of OBGYN surgery scheduling and coordination for patients and providers in a busy OBGYN practice. This full-time, on-site role in Teaneck, NJ includes scheduling procedures, confirming operating room times, and coordinating with surgeons and hospital staff. The position involves verifying patient insurance coverage and benefits, obtaining necessary authorizations, and ensuring required documentation is complete and accurate prior and post surgery. The Surgical Coordinator will maintain clear communication with patients about pre-operative and post-operative instructions, financial responsibilities, and appointment details. Daily tasks also include updating electronic medical records, responding to phone calls and inquiries, supporting front-office workflows, and helping ensure a smooth surgical experience for patients and the care team, completing disability paperwork.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong skills in Surgery Scheduling and related clinical coordination tasks.
- Candidates should possess a solid understanding of Medical Terminology to communicate effectively with providers and interpret clinical documentation.
- Candidates should possess skills in Insurance Verification, including benefits checks, prior authorizations, and familiarity with payer policies.
- Candidates should possess excellent Customer Service and Communication skills to interact professionally with patients, families, and healthcare staff.
