HOLY CROSS PREPARATORY ACADEMY
DIRECTOR OF GUIDANCE
Holy Cross Preparatory Academy (HCPA), an independent preparatory high school in Delran, NJ has an opening for a Director of Guidance.
REPORTS TO: Principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- 11 month position
- Salary based on experience
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum experience as determined by the Principal
- Master’s Degree in School Counseling preferred
- Minimum of three (3) years successful experience in school guidance counseling
- New Jersey Educational Services Certificate and Student Personnel Services endorsement or eligibility preferred
- Broad knowledge of testing and evaluation, theories of individual and group guidance techniques, elementary/secondary school guidance program design, and career/educational information and placement
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with students, parents, staff, and community groups and organizations
- Proficiency in use of Naviance
- Demonstrated leadership capability
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Required criminal history background check
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains student records and ensures their confidentiality
- Provides information and prepares recommendations to colleges for admissions and scholarships, as well as to potential employers
- Works closely with teachers, administrators and other professional staff members, providing information and assistance where needed for the ultimate benefit of students
- Assists in the organization and administration of standardized test programs
- Works with the guidance counselor to schedule students for classes
- Arranges for summer work and/or enrollment in summer school programs to make up noted deficiencies
- Maintains a professional office environment
- Assists in the evaluation of current curriculum offerings and in the planning, selection and implementation of new course offerings
- Provides guidance for social and emotional learning (SEL)
- Directs students toward vetted external professional mental health services when required
- Coordinates student academic support services
