Medical Lab Scientist (MLT)

POSITION PURPOSE

The Medical Laboratory Technician position is responsible for performing general duties pertaining to the processing of patient samples to accommodate accurate and timely laboratory testing. Responsible for accurately performing tests and reporting results in the fields of microbiology, coagulation, chemistry, hematology, transfusion medicine, serology and urinalysis. Comprehensive microbiology may be required to cover the shift. The position is responsible for accurately performing tests and reporting results.

MINIMUM MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE:

• No experience required.

EDUCATION:

• An Associate Degree in a Science or Medical Technology program from an accredited institution is required.

MANDATORY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

• Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required.
• Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills are required.
• Knowledge of and compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
• Computer proficiency and technical aptitude in Microsoft and Laboratory Information Systems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum one (1) year working experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician preferred.
• Knowledge of Meditech preferred.
