What are the responsibilities and job description for the Preschool Director position at Holy Cross Lutheran Church?
Holy Cross Christian Nursery School and Childcare is actively seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Preschool Director to continue the over 30-year success of this outreach of Holy Cross Lutheran Church to our community. The Director will oversee the daily operations and administration of the preschool and related childcare program for approximately 90 students ranging in age from 2 ½ to 4. The Director also serves as the Head Teacher for the school. Candidates must be experienced in the field of early childhood development and the management of a school. The director’s responsibilities include management and recruitment of staff, marketing and communication, financial management, and communication with key stakeholders, including the Pastor, Church staff and volunteers, and especially, the families of our students. The Director will determine the needs of the preschool and staff, protect the health and safety of children, and work closely with the Pastor and the School Board.
Qualifications:
· Self-motivated with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
· Possess a love for children and teaching
· A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in early childhood development or related field
· A minimum of 3 years experience as a director or school administration.
· A minimum of 3 years classroom experience
· A thorough understanding of all applicable licensing standards
· Willing to work with the Pastor to uphold the vision of the preschool as an outreach ministry of the Church
· Proficient in basic computer applications such as email, word processing, spreadsheets, etc.
· Strong relational, leadership and administrative skills.
· Provide appropriate professional and personal references
· Willing to submit to a thorough background check
General Responsibilities:
· Oversee the daily operation of the preschool.
· Manage staff.
· Create policies and develop curricula.
· Manage financial transactions and prepare budgets in partnership with the Treasurer and School Board.
· Manage all the school communication including the website and social media.
· Schedule training of CPR and First Aid for all members of staff.
· Identify and schedule fundraising events.
· Schedule on-going training of teachers.
· Oversee the before and after school childcare program.
