Job Title: Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) – Acute Care (Med/Stroke Unit)

Position Purpose
- Reporting to the Director of Acute Care, the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) must demonstrate the passion to provide bedside care to a diverse and acutely ill population.
- The CNA works in a collaborative environment at Holy Cross Health to deliver excellent patient care assistance under the supervision and direction of a designated health care professional in accordance with policies and procedures. This position is a great opportunity to work in an organization that focuses on treating the whole person physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Supports the mission of Trinity and Holy Cross Hospital.
- As delegated by a licensed nurse, performs essential duties appropriate to role while assisting with basic to complex patient care needs.
- Participates in direct one-to-one patient observation to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment.
- Assists delegated care team in keeping detailed records, clear communication and working with patients and families.
- The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) may be assigned to function in either the Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) or Nursing Assistant role.
- Reports pertinent information to the immediate supervisor; responds to inquiries or requests for information; and assists the immediate supervisor with tasks to support department operations.
Required:
- Current licensure by the Maryland State Board for Certified Nursing Assistant
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- BLS certification (issued through the American Heart Association).
- Computer skills (internet, email, wireless phone, electronic health record) and technical skills (blood sugar, vital sign, and EKG machines).
- Be physically able to pull, push, turn and position patients.
- Superb interpersonal, customer service and collaboration abilities.
- Ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize, ability to work well with individuals and groups.
- At least one year of CNA experience in an acute care setting.
