About the Role
Associates at HSG are deeply involved in all phases of litigation and can expect to
- Conduct sophisticated legal research and draft briefs, motions, and memoranda on complex issues
- Develop case strategy in close collaboration with partners and clients
- Take and defend depositions and prepare witnesses
- Argue motions and participate in hearings
- Assist with trial preparation and, where appropriate, trial presentation
- Interact substantively with clients and opposing counsel
- Manage discovery and factual development in high‑stakes matters
Consistent with the firm’s belief that lawyers learn by doing, associates are regularly entrusted with significant responsibility early in their careers.
Qualifications
- A Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA‑accredited law school
- ool1–4 years of litigation experience, including experience in complex commercial litigation, white‑collar matters, or investigations
- Academic credentials at or near the top of their law school class
- Exceptional legal research, writing, and analytical skills
- Sound judgment, strong attention to detail, and the ability to think strategically
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a small, collaborative team
- Judicial clerkship experience is highly valued; candidates joining from a clerkship will receive a market‑rate clerkship bonus

Pay range and compensation package

- Associates are compensated at the top New York market level, including year‑end bonuses at or above market rates
- Clerkship bonuses are paid at market
