Commercial Construction Project Manager

Position Summary

This role is responsible for planning construction projects and overseeing their progress from start to finish in a timely and cost-effective manner. This includes budgeting, organizing, implementing and scheduling projects.

• The person will collaborate closely with various stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution. With your keen attention to detail and strong organizational skills, you will ensure that all construction activities align with the established timeline and budget work well independently while collaborating closely with supervisors or managers.
• Key Responsibilities
• Collaborate with engineers, architects etc. to determine the specifications of the project
• Negotiate contracts with external vendors to reach profitable agreements
• Obtain permits and licenses from appropriate authorities
• Determine needed resources (manpower, equipment and materials) from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations
• Plan all construction operations and schedule intermediate phases to ensure deadlines will be met
• Acquire equipment and material and monitor stocks to timely handle inadequacies
• Hire contractors and other staff and allocate responsibilities
• Supervise the work of laborers, mechanics etc. and give them guidance when needed
• Evaluate progress and prepare detailed reports
• Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and report issues
• Responsible for the promotion of a safe, productive, and professional job site through adhering to all policies and procedures in the HBI company handbook, the HBI safety handbook, and all applicable laws and building codes
• Strong Preference given to local candidates
• Maintain a close relationship with owners and other stakeholders

Qualifications and Requirements

• Proven working experience in commercial construction management
• Advanced knowledge of construction management processes, means and methods
• Expert knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards
• Understanding of all facets of the construction process
• Familiarity with construction management software packages
• Ability to plan and see the “big picture”
• Competence in conflict and crisis management
• Knowledge of Procore, Excel and MS Project.
• Leadership and human resources management skills
• Excellent time and project management skills
