Position Summary
The Assistant Superintendent supports the Superintendent in overseeing construction projects from preconstruction through completion. This role assists with scheduling, site coordination, safety compliance, and quality control to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with company standards. The Assistant Superintendent works closely with the Superintendent, Project Manager, subcontractors, and vendors to support daily field operations.
This position requires strong organizational skills, the ability to perform effectively, and a commitment to maintaining a safe, productive, and professional job site.
Key Responsibilities
Field Operations & Support
- Assist the Project Superintendent with daily job-site operations and coordination of subcontractors and vendors
- Help manage site logistics, deliveries, inspections, and sequencing of work
- Monitor daily progress and productivity, reporting issues or delays to the Superintendent
- Maintain accurate daily reports, manpower logs, and site documentation
Safety & Compliance
- Support enforcement of all OSHA, company, and site-specific safety requirements
- Assist with jobsite safety orientations, audits, and toolbox talks
- Identify and report unsafe conditions or behaviors and help implement corrective actions
- Promote a strong, proactive safety culture on the jobsite
Schedule & Quality Control
- Assist in tracking project schedules and flagging potential impacts to critical path activities
- Conduct routine quality inspections to ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, and company standards
- Help coordinate inspections with local authorities and third-party inspectors
- Support punch list completion and closeout activities
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with Project Superintendents, Project Managers, and field teams to maintain clear communication
- Assist with coordination between trades to minimize conflicts and rework
- Support relationships with subcontractors, inspectors, architects, engineers, and owners as needed
Learning & Development
- Learn and apply company field procedures, best practices, and construction standards
- Participate in training opportunities to develop leadership, scheduling, and technical skills
- Previous experience in construction, preferably in a supervisory, lead, or foreman role
- Working knowledge of construction operations and jobsite safety practices
- Familiarity with local quality, safety, and health guidelines for construction job sites
- Experience working in Procore preferred
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and take direction
- Willingness to learn and grow into a Site Superintendent role
- Minimum High School Diploma
