Responsibilities
- Supervise nursing staff during weekend shifts, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback to ensure optimal team functioning.
- Coordinate patient assessments, vital signs monitoring, and medical documentation in accordance with hospital policies and healthcare regulations.
- Oversee medication administration, IV infusion procedures, catheter care, and other clinical interventions with precision and adherence to safety protocols.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations, state healthcare laws, and long-term care regulations to protect patient privacy and safety.
- Facilitate effective communication among multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, therapists, and support staff to coordinate patient care plans.
- Manage clinical workflows efficiently, including intake procedures, discharge planning, and utilization review processes.
- Maintain accurate medical records using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks while ensuring documentation quality.
- Lead infection control initiatives and uphold aseptic techniques to minimize infection risks within the facility.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Registered Nurse in acute care settings such as ICU, emergency medicine, or Level I/II trauma centers.
- Demonstrated supervisory or managerial experience supervising nursing teams in long-term care or hospital environments.
- Extensive clinical background including critical & intensive care, medical-surgical units, geriatrics, behavioral health, or pediatric care.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Athenahealth for documentation and patient management.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding for procedures, and hospital medicine protocols.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of physical examinations, vital signs assessment, medication administration including injections and IV insertion techniques.
