What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cook position at Holton Community Hospital?
PRN (As needed) - up to 16 hours per week
Work Schedule is every other weekend, Saturday & Sunday.
Work Hours are either 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. or 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Position could include additional hours on a PRN basis to cover scheduled vacations and/or call in sick of other staff.

The Cook prepares and serves meals to hospital patients, guests and staff including meals/snacks for in-house catered events. Maintains a “customer friendly” environment by treating all individuals with dignity, respect and concern for their well being while carrying out assigned tasks. Functions as a team member with other employees both in the department and in other departments of the hospital in order to meet the individual needs and expectations of each customer/family served.
Requirements
- Must be capable of communicating clearly (reading, writing and speaking) in the English Language.
- Must be capable of reading and comprehending written policies/procedures, menus, recipes, and individual patient diet orders.
- Must have the ability to receive and relay phone or other business related messages.
- Must be able to operate computer, telephone and other department specific equipment required to perform your job.
- The employee is regularly required to walk, stand, sit, stoop or bend. The employee is frequently required to stand, use hands, see, taste, smell, talk, hear and be able to reach and feel. Must be able to occasionally lift items up to 20 pounds.
- Prior related work experience or training is preferred. Must be at least 18 years old.
